Terms & Privacy
This page explains the terms of use, copyright and privacy approach for .
Plain-English summary: this site is for personal use, does not give legal advice, and does not track you or store your data on a server.
1. Who runs this site
This site is a personal project created and maintained by David Curwen, a self-described Consumer of Legal Services who has been let down by Incompetent Solicitors, legal Ombudsman, Regulators (SRA), Oversite Regulators (LSB) and Government Ministers, who have all failed to protect the Consumer of Legal Services..
It is not operated by a law firm, regulator, Ombudsman or government body. It does not offer legal services and is not a substitute for taking advice from a qualified lawyer where that is appropriate.
2. No legal advice – information only
The content and tools on this site are provided for general information only. They are designed to help you organise your thoughts, documents and communications, and to understand the process of dealing with legal services in plain English.
Nothing on this site is intended to:
- give you legal advice about your specific case,
- tell you what you must do or not do, or
- replace advice from a qualified, regulated legal professional.
You are responsible for any decisions you make. If you are unsure about your position or your rights, you should seek advice from a suitably qualified professional.
3. Copyright & intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, the content on this site is © David Curwen, all rights reserved.
This includes, for example:
- text, guides and explanations,
- checklists, question sets and templates,
- page layouts and tool structures (such as logs, trackers and builders).
Personal use
You are welcome to:
- view the site in your browser;
- download or print pages for your own personal use;
- adapt the templates for your own case;
- refer to the tools when preparing complaints or notes.
What you must not do
You must not, without prior written permission from the owner:
- republish large parts of this site as your own work;
- sell, license or commercially exploit the content or tools;
- copy substantial parts of the text or structure into a commercial product;
- use the “Legal Navigation for Real Consumers” name or branding in a way that suggests you are this project or are endorsed by it.
Short quotes with clear attribution and a link back to the site are fine for fair, non-commercial use (for example in discussion, teaching or criticism).
4. Your content and data in the tools
This site is deliberately simple. The interactive tools (logs, checklists, trackers, etc.) are designed to store your entries only in your own browser using local storage.
In practice, this means:
- Your answers, notes and timelines are stored on your own device, not on a central server operated by this project.
- If you use a different browser or device, your entries will not automatically appear there.
- If you clear your browser data or local storage, you may lose the entries saved in these tools.
You own the content you type into the tools (your notes, complaint drafts, timelines, etc.). It is your responsibility to:
- decide whether to copy or export that content to other documents;
- take backups if it is important to you;
- keep it secure and private on your own devices.
5. Privacy, cookies and tracking
This project is intended to respect your privacy and keep things simple.
- The site does not deliberately use analytics trackers (such as Google Analytics) or advertising cookies.
- The interactive tools use local storage in your browser to remember your entries. This stays on your device.
- No account system is provided; you are not asked to register or log in.
However, if you access this site through a hosting provider or internet service, there may be basic technical logs (such as IP addresses, error logs or bandwidth usage) kept by that provider as part of normal operations. Those are not used by this project to build profiles of users.
If you choose to copy text from this site into other services (for example ChatGPT, email, or cloud storage), the privacy position will then depend on those separate services.
6. Limitation of liability
Reasonable efforts are made to keep the information on this site clear and up to date, but there is no guarantee that it is complete, accurate or suitable for your particular situation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the owner of this site will not be liable for:
- any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or its tools; or
- any decisions you make, or do not make, based on information found here.
You should always check important details (such as Ombudsman time limits, regulator rules and court deadlines) against official sources or with a qualified professional.
7. External links
This site may link to external websites (for example, regulators, Ombudsman services, or information pages). These links are provided for convenience only.
This project has no control over, and is not responsible for, the content or privacy practices of those external sites. You should review their terms and policies separately.
8. Changes to these terms
These terms and the privacy information may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the project, the tools, or applicable law.
When you continue to use the site after changes are posted, you are treated as having accepted the updated terms.
9. Contact
This is a personal, non-commercial project. There is no formal customer support service.
If in future a contact method is provided (for example, an email address specifically for this project), it will be added here.
Please do not send confidential or highly sensitive information about ongoing cases to any general contact address. Always think carefully before sharing legal or personal details online.
